Thrive Networks Gala

Last night I attended a Thrive and Blue Planet Network gala that I was invited to by Sabrina. While I was there I met several people that have inspired me to continue even further with my project. I talk to people from Blue Planet Network and Global Women's Water Initiative . I talked to Gemma, Rose and Godliver. Rose and Godliver are both visiting the U.S from Kenya and Uganda. I talked to Rose about how she got involved with Global Women's Water Initiative.

Rose grew up in rural Kenya and experienced water issues to do with women first hand. She went on to study biology and botany having no idea that she would later in work with water issues. Rose is passionate about women empowerment and she started her own organization in Kenya that is now linked to Global Women's Water Initiative. They teach women skills that are needed by the community, and skills that they can use to sustain themselves such as building toilets and water tanks.

Similarly, Godliver, has a back ground in engineering and challenges gender stereotypes by being the leader in technology training for Global Women's Water Initiative.  She has expertise in all kinds of amazing things that have to do with building as well.

Thank you to everyone who took time to speak with me. Hearing everyones story was really inspiring. Thanks again for the amazing support!

Blue Planet Run Book

Today we met with Sabrina, the lovely lady who told me about Thrive at my last bake sale. She gave me the book Blue Planet Run by Rick Smolan and Jennifer Erwitt. Athletes around the world ran for a hundred hours to raise awareness about the lack of safe drinking water all over the world. Blue Planet World is full of extraordinary photographs and information about the water problems facing humanity and some of the hopeful solutions. This book is a great resource for me, so another huge thanks to Sabrina!
